WHEREAS, Senator Robert L. Owen has introduced into the United States Senate a bill (S. 6049) providing for the establishment of a Department of Public Health; and,
WHEREAS, We are convinced that the enactment of this bill into a law would go far toward conserving the health of the American people, thus carrying out the highest and most beneficent function of government, at the same time creating conditions that will promote morality and religion; therefore be it
RESOLVED, By the Southern Baptist Convention in regular annual session assembled, representing a church membership of over two millions, that we approve the proposed measure and earnestly appeal to Congress to give it early and careful consideration;
RESOLVED, Further, That copies of this resolution be forwarded at once to Senator Owen, President Taft, Vice President Sherman and Speaker Cannon.
