WHEREAS, The work of God must be undergirded by effective and earnest prayer (James 5:16-17); and
WHEREAS, Jesus taught the absolute necessity of prayer and that no work of God is impossible apart from prayer and fasting (Matt. 17:20-21); and
WHEREAS, God says, “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3); and
WHEREAS, Good News America, God Loves You and Bold Mission Thrust must be saturated with prayer.
Be it therefore RESOLVED, That we as Southern Baptists meeting in Dallas, June 11-13, 1985, call churches and individuals to pray for a spiritual awakening.
