Recommendation From Social Service Commission

We commend our pastors and churches for the most effective work which has been done in behalf of our young men and women in the armed forces. In the years ahead there must be no flagging of spirit in this matter. We also note with particular pride that in proportion to the number in the services the chaplains have received more decorations for bravery beyond the line of duty than any other group.

In this connection we recommend that each church now set up a committee to function in the rehabilitation in civilian life of its returning service men. Where it is possible, such a church committee might well include a physician, an attorney, a teacher and a business man. Since one and a quarter million of our boys have already been demobilized we must inaugurate this kind of work at once.
