God called Temi to start a church that reaches people from African backgrounds and emphasizes pastoral care, local exposition, and the uniqueness of the African culture.
Laurel, Maryland, is an urban/suburban area with a population of about 100,000. While the Akinsanya’s ministry at Restoration Church primarily focuses on reaching African nationals who have walked away from the church, it also draws people from throughout the local community who come from other backgrounds.
Restoration Church recently connected with two men from a Roman Catholic background who hadn’t attended church since their preteen years. Through the ministry at Restoration Church, these men reconnected with God, and have become faithful participants in the church. They now have a strong desire to read God’s Word and learn what it means to be disciples of Jesus.
When our church gives through the Cooperative Program (CP), we help missionaries like Temi, Modesta, and the people of Restoration Church reach the nations coming to the American shores.
Let’s pray today that the Akinsanyas would be faithful to the disciple-making opportunities God has placed before them.
