“To be Thai is to be Buddhist.” Stephen Cox heard that phrase often after moving to northern Thailand, where less than 1% of the population is evangelical. Many Thai believers told him they had never heard the gospel growing up.
Cox and his IMB team wanted to change that. Since nearly everyone in Thailand uses social media, they launched a digital outreach campaign. They trained Thai believers to respond to online inquiries and follow up in person. The first ad simply asked, “How can we pray for you?”
It came during national tragedies—flooding in Chiang Mai and a deadly school bus fire in Bangkok. Ads acknowledged the brokenness and pointed people to the gospel and disaster relief. One ad featured the testimony of a Thai believer.
The campaign reached 980,000 people. Over 70,000 watched the full testimony, and more than 500 reached out for follow-up.
Through the Cooperative Program, Southern Baptists support innovative strategies to share the gospel.
Pray for Stephen’s team as they make Jesus known across Thailand.
