Patrick & Kathryn Thompson

When Patrick and Kathryn Thompson arrived in New York City to plant New City Church with their two kids, they quickly realized they were already engaged in cross-cultural missions. From high grocery prices to navigating crowded subways, the challenges were unlike anything they had ever experienced.

Living in a neighborhood with over 80 nationalities, the Thompsons gradually began to thrive and call it home. Their church, a North American Mission Board plant, started to pray for ways to reach beyond New York City. Initially, the Thompsons didn’t expect God to call them to go. But He had other plans.

This year, Patrick and Kathryn left their young adult children, PJ and Natalie, behind in New York and moved to France to share the gospel. In New York, God gave them a heart for those who have rejected Christianity—a similar mindset they expect to encounter in France’s post-Christian, urban culture.

The Thompsons ask for prayer as they adjust to a new culture, learn the language, and that they would abide in Christ during this transition. They also pray for more Southern Baptists to join them in their mission.

Our church supports the mission work of Patrick and Kathryn Thompson when we give through the Cooperative Program.

Pray for the Thompsons as they adjust to a new culture and for others to join them on mission..
