IMB missionary Matthew Fisher firmly believes in the transformative power of trauma healing groups. His training from the Trauma Healing Institute has made these groups a cornerstone of his church-planting strategy in South America.
It starts with a local believer who feels called to plant a church. In these free trauma healing groups, participants share their stories, build strong bonds, and experience emotional and spiritual healing. Many, through addressing their emotional wounds in a program grounded in Scripture, come to faith in Christ.
As the group grows, it transitions from meeting on weekdays to gathering on Sunday mornings. The church-planting believer leads the fellowship, guiding it through messages on what makes a healthy church.
Matthew stays with the group, offering discipleship as it evolves into a thriving church plant. Over the past five years three congregations have emerged from this approach. It is truly a powerful tool for building genuine community.
The Cooperative Program (CP) takes the Gospel to the nations and the neighborhoods. Your financial support through the Cooperative Program allows missionaries and church planters to fulfill the Great Commission call God has placed on their lives.
