Jeremy and his core team launched Port City Church in 2023. In their first year, the church baptized 19 people and have seen weekly attendance rise to about 200.
Port City Church stands out in Halifax, where most people are accustomed to more traditional “high church” denominations like Anglicanism or Catholicism. Residents seem to appreciate the clear and understandable message of Port City Church. Young adults and college students, in particular, are exploring faith, having seen other pursuits fail them. Jeremy notes that many of these young adults are turning to Christianity after discovering that the ideologies they’re encountering simply don’t work.
Jeremy’s story reflects a larger movement of God among our church’s missionaries in Canada. Canadian Baptists have started 203 churches in the last 13 years thanks to the support of churches like ours.
The Cooperative Program (CP) takes the Gospel to the nations and the neighborhoods. When our church gives through the Cooperative Program, we help to ensure Halifax has a Gospel-proclaiming church.
Let’s pray for Jeremy and Port City Church, asking God to give them opportunities to tell people about Jesus and disciple them in the truth of God’s Word.
