Eric and Brittany Gibbs serve among the Tohono O’Odham (TO) Nation and the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona—where less than one percent of the population is evangelical, and many villages have no believers.
They focused on one TO village known for resisting the gospel and outsiders. Despite warnings that ministry there was “impossible,” the Gibbs visited weekly, offering help and building relationships. After months of persistence and prayer, they were granted permission to start a Bible study.
At first, it seemed unfruitful—until one woman came and gave her life to Christ. “Once that happened, there was a domino effect,” Eric says. “Within a year, 20 people trusted Christ, and a church was born. When the first two men in the village’s history were baptized, we saw the faithfulness of God on display.”
Through the Cooperative Program, our church supports missionaries like the Gibbs in reaching hard places with the gospel.
Pray the Gibbs will stay faithful and not grow weary.
