Abdul, a Middle Eastern refugee, heard the gospel through his older brother—who had once sought revenge for their father’s murder but instead returned home offering forgiveness, having found peace in Jesus. Abdul was stunned. But as he listened, he too surrendered to Christ and found restoration.

After facing persecution for his faith, Abdul fled his homeland, enduring a months-long journey to seek asylum. There, he was welcomed by a local church and befriended by another refugee. He also met IMB missionary Otis Neumann and his family, who walked with him in his faith journey.

Abdul was baptized and quickly became a devoted part of the church, serving joyfully despite ongoing challenges. A U.S. church partner gifted him a bike so he could more easily attend services and serve others.

At his baptism, Abdul declared, “Whether they kill me or not, I’m a Christian.”

Through the Cooperative Program, Southern Baptists help support gospel work among displaced peoples.

Pray for Abdul’s continued growth and boldness, and for many refugees to find hope in Christ.
