WHEREAS, Violence is a part of the daily reality of urban Americans; and
WHEREAS, Our tendency is to rest easy with violence and to ignore its effect upon the families of our nation; and
WHEREAS, The Atlanta child and young adult murders are a tragic siren in the night of our national apostasy;
Be it therefore RESOLVED, That we pray for God’s mercy upon the cities of America, for God’s comfort to families stricken by violence, and for God’s power upon the churches who minister in Christ’s name, and that we are Southern Baptists recommit ourselves to fulfill our mission to bring an authentic Christian witness to the cities.
