Christians and Communists are agreed that vital Christian faith is incompatible with communism. In the light of recent world events we are more aware now than ever before that communism seeks to conquer the world. We are grateful to all agencies, organizations, and persons who guard our homes, our churches, and our nation against communist subversion. Even so we caution against irresponsible use of the communist label as an accusation without sufficient evidence.
We do believe that Southern Baptists should study communism as medical experts study cancer. We therefore commend those among us who are undertaking to learn and to teach Christian truth as it applies in this area.
We affirm that our answer to the challenge of communism is a profound, vital, and living Christian faith. We speak our “No” to communism when we say “Yes” to Jesus Christ.
