Prayer is a powerful part of our daily lives.
The goal of the SBC "Churches Praying
for Churches" campaign is to promote supportive prayer
for every single Southern Baptist church. We are
encouraging both individual believers and church prayer groups
to pray -- not only for their own church, but for other churches
as well.
By daily lifting up a sister church in prayer, we
can ask God to bless and support that church, its staff, and each
member. We ask that God's will be done above all and that His Word
be preached to the church's community. [ Register

How the Program Works
 Southern
Baptist individuals and/or church prayer groups can register on
our website to become part of this campaign. You may also register
over the phone by calling 1-888-PRAYER2.
By signing up, you commit to pray for one to five Southern Baptist
churches each week, for 12 weeks. By making this commitment, you
agree to bathe your sister church in prayer by name each day during
the week it is assigned to you. This includes lifting up individual
requests presented by your sister church.
When you register you will provide your email address.
We will assign you a 6-digit number that will be your personal Volunteer
ID#. The only information we require from you is your name, email
address and your home Church ID#. The Church ID# can be found by
searching for your home church in our ChurchSearch
database.
 Your
participation in the "Churches Praying for Churches"
program allows your church to be shown as a Prayer Volunteer church.
This means that one or more members from your church are part of
the program and are faithfully praying for other Southern Baptist
churches around the country. This will be indicated by a seal of
participation presented on your ChurchSearch information page.
You, the Prayer Volunteer, will be assigned your
first church assignment upon registration with suggested starting
and ending dates to pray for this church. Our goal is for you to
pray for this church by name daily during your personal prayer time.
If you wish to pray for more than one church during the week (up
to a maximum of 5), you may request additional church assignments
using this website. At the end of your first week, you can request
your next church assignment. The program will continue for 12 weeks.
We have also provided the means for individual
churches (including your home church) to submit specific church
prayer requests using Church
Update. As a Prayer Volunteer, you will be able to lift up in
prayer specific prayer requests submitted by your assigned church.
These prayer requests could be for church growth, evangelism and
mission opportunities, or general prayer requests for the pastor,
staff and members.
Conclusion
When this program concludes, we pray that "Churches
Praying for Churches" will have helped you grow in
your daily prayer life. We pray that there will be an increased
dependency on prayer as a foundational, essential and primary facet
of every believer's life. We pray for the outpouring of the Spirit
of God on our denomination and in the communities in which our churches
serve. We also pray that "Churches Praying for Churches"
will lead to an increased sense of community on the part of individual
Southern Baptist churches and volunteers, and to greater inter-church
partnering projects and missions work for the future.
"Churches Praying for Churches"
is a cooperation between the Southern Baptist Convention Executive
Committee (SBC-EC), the North American Mission Board (NAMB), and
the Empowering Kingdom Growth (EKG) task force.
