The Primary Responsibilities of the Pastor are:
-Lead and develop the pastoral team in equipping the congregation to fulfill the Great Commission and accomplish the mission statement of the church. Lead the deacon body so they can effectively lead the ministry teams of the church in ministry opportunities to the church and the community.
-Use his spiritual gifts to edify and build this local body of believers. Provide appropriate pastoral care to members of the church and the community. Lead in equipping and training the deacons and ministerial staff so they might support him in the pastoral care responsibilities.
-Preach and teach the Bible, believing that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter. Communicate the vision for ministry that God gives to this congregation.
-Lead the church ministerial staff in planning and coordinating worship services. Prepare and deliver sermons, and lead in the observance of church ordinances. Secure a pulpit supply when he is away.
-Lead the church in an evangelistic outreach program, encouraging members to become involved in the ministry of witnessing and caring for the people in the church and community.
-Be available for counseling sessions, performing wedding ceremonies, and conducting funerals.
-Provide directions and oversight to the Church Council and ministerial staff in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total program of the church.
-Serve as the moderator for the church business meetings.
-Cooperate with the New Orleans Baptist Association, Louisiana Baptist Convention, and denominational leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention in matters of mutual interest and concern. Keep the church informed on denominational developments and represent the church in civic matters. Support the use of Associational, State, and Convention resources, including training seminars, printed materials, and personnel available for local church support.
-Model and support the stewardship of the church and the will of the congregation.

Requirements for the Position
-Must be a Christian, called by God to the ministry.
-Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in correspondence.
-Ability to relate to people as individuals.
-Must be active in witnessing and personal evangelism, and experienced in church outreach, visitation, and ministry programs.
-Skilled in organizing and directing church programs, committees, conferences, and workshops.
Education and Experience for the Position
-College degree and Southern Baptist seminary graduate.
-Preferably 5-10 years of staff experience in a church of comparable size.
-Ordained to the work of the Gospel Ministry.
-Prefer basic computer software skills (Microsoft Office).
