Responsible for planning and leading the church’s times of Traditional worship, including weekly worship experiences as well as special programs and concerts. “Hands on” in leading music groups – choirs, orchestras, ensembles, etc.

PLAN AND IMPLEMENT CORPORATE WORSHIP EXPERIENCES
• Enlist, train and supervise others to serve as leaders of music groups
• Prepare worship leading groups (choirs, ensembles, instrumental groups, etc.)
• Do the weekly planning of the order of Traditional worship service
• Personally lead in the worship times
• Work with Director of Contemporary Worship under the direction of Senior Pastor to create “One Worship” Sundays periodically

DEVELOP, LEAD AND OVERSEE MUSIC STAFF, MUSIC GROUPS AND MUSIC LEADERS
• Provide supervision over the Traditional music ministry and its staff, plus music groups and all music leaders
• Develop and direct the key groups within the Traditional Music Ministry, such as the Sanctuary Choir, the Orchestra, the Singing Seniors, the Chapel Choir, etc.
• Support and encourage a music ministry which seeks to involve multi-generations, from preschool through senior adults
• Plan and implement growth campaigns, seeking to involve others in music ministry
• Supervise the church’s Media Ministry

BE OUTREACH-MINDED
• Be creative, seeking to capitalize on the natural draw of music when it comes to outreach
• Strive to allow choir and orchestra involvement to serve as a “front door” to the church for those who feel they have a talent, and want to contribute it for the good of the faith family

BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Be a team player, able to see how music fits into the big picture
• Attend weekly staff meetings
• Participate in hospital visitation
• Be engaged in outreach for the church, and evangelism to move “seekers to believers”
• Be available to minister through occasions like funerals and weddings
• Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church
• Lead the worship ministry to pursue the goal of making disciples


REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

CALLING
• This position is designed to be filled by a person who senses a call from God to serve the
• Kingdom and the local church in the area of church music and worship

EDUCATION
• Minimum of Bachelor of Music
• Preferably at least a Master of Music
• A seminary degree is preferable

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
• Maintain and train choirs, orchestras, bells and ensembles
• Train and mentor those group leaders
• Strong musician, with specific skill and talent in choral and orchestral rehearsing and conducting

SKILLS
• Adept musically, both vocally and instrumentally
• Possess a healthy and working knowledge of technology, such as sound systems, video systems,Ability to interact with congregation and the public in a professional manner best representing FBCP

ABILITIES
• Able to inspire people to offer God their best
• Able to create an atmosphere of enjoyment of learning and performance
• To foster a sense of family among those involved in music ministry

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
• Maintain a meaningful relationship with God, spending time on a regular basis in Bible study
and prayer
• Demonstrate a personality that appreciates people, comfortable with easily befriending and
caring for others
• Instill recognition that music is a valuable component of worship
• Ability to interact with congregation and the public in a professional manner best
representing FBCP
• Ability to pass criminal and credit background checks

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
• Preferably involved with professional groups outside FBCP, like Metro Music groups, Baptist
Church Music Conference, the American Choral Director’s Association, etc.

BASIC AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Committed Christian, Called Musician/Minister, Formally Trained, Good/Friendly/Even Temperament

Working conditions:
• Work regular daytime schedule
• Frequent night-time rehearsals
• Weekends and occasional holidays
• Lead group travel, locally, within the United States and foreign countries
• Requires a work ethic committed to excellence.

Physical requirements:
• Lifting and moving semi-heavy equipment
• Physical stamina to stand and conduct through multi-hours of rehearsal
