The First Baptist Church of Flora Vista is looking for an individual who would be interested in leading the praise/worship music for our church. Our current leader is retiring from the position. Generally, we sing some hymnal favorites along with a few contemporary songs. We have an audio system for the music and sound projection, and we have a video system that is computer driven for overhead projections. We have Easy Worship software to coordinate the audio and video. We also have church volunteers that can run the sound board and overhead projection during services. We typically have music during our Sunday morning service only. We also have seasonal special presentations by the choir and/or individuals for Christmas and Easter for example. We are a small, but growing rural church of 50+/- members in Northwest New Mexico, near the Colorado border with numerous outdoor activities. Farmington, NM is the closest city of about 50,000 people only 5 minutes away. We are a theologically conservative, SBC affiliated church.
We are looking for someone younger (male or female) who has a heart for music, and has a desire to serve, as this is a non-paid position at present, however this could change in the future. Our current song leader would be available to assist a new song leader in learning the system we have. We would prefer this person to have some experience in music leadership and/or education that can take us further in our worship and musical skills. This person would have to be willing to become a member of FBC Flora Vista and agree to abide by our bylaws/constitution. Though this is a music leader position, it is not a church leadership position. As such, the music leader falls under the guidance and direction of the pastor and deacons.
