To preach the word (2 Timothy 4:2); pastor the people (1 Peter 5:1-3); and equip the saints to do the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11).

“Terms of Agreement”
A “Terms of Agreement” between the Pastor and the Church shall be worked out by the pastor search committee and the Pastor and presented to the Church for approval prior to the time a Pastor is called. Such agreement shall include duties of the Pastor, terms of employment, salary, moving expenses, vacation and leave, pulpit substitution, and other items of mutual interest to the Church and Pastor. Copies of the “Terms of Agreement” shall be filed with the church clerk and church treasurer.

1. The Pastor is the under shepherd of the Church. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, he is responsible for equipping the Church, for evangelizing the lost, leading the membership toward spiritual maturity through worship and service, and those duties set forth in the “Terms of Agreement.”
2. The Pastor is the chief administrator of the Church. He is responsible for conducting all worship services and acting as an advisor and leader in all phases of church life so as to promote its spiritual welfare. He shall serve as an ex-officio member of all ministries, committees, organizations, and departments of the Church. The responsibility of the pulpit ministry rests upon him, including the provision of supply preachers in case of his absence. He also has supervisory responsibility over all additional staff members and paid personnel. The Pastor is encouraged to represent the Church at associational, state and denominational meetings.


1. He shall have a clear sense of God’s calling him to pastoral ministry.
2. He shall demonstrate strong Christian character.
3. He shall meet the Scriptural qualifications as set forth in 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:7-9.
4. He shall be ordained by a Southern Baptist Church.
5. He shall be encouraged to pursue a graduate (theological) degree from a Southern Baptist Seminary or have the equivalent pastoral experience.
6. He shall be committed to the Southern Baptist Convention.
7. He must fully endorse the Covenant of the Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
8. He shall become a member of this Church and if married, his wife must also become a member of the Church and be supportive of his ministry.
