Children’s Ministry Director
(Nursery – 5th grade)

Accountable to: Lead Pastor & Elders

Immediate Supervisor: Lead Pastor

Position Status: Part Time (10 Hrs a week)

Salary: $12.00 to $15.00 /hour (DOE)

Experience: 1- 2 years working with children (preferred)

Purpose: This position must be filled by someone with a deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ, showing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in their life. He or she must have a love of children and a strong commitment to their growth of faith in our church community. They should also strive to connect the unreached children of the community to the church and would benefit from skills in outreach through community partners, social media, and face-to-face interactions. Furthermore, in our multi-generational congregation, this director should be able to communicate the activities of the children ministry to the congregation, and provide opportunities for church members to partner in the development of our children in their faith through giving, volunteering, prayers, relationship building, etc. He or she should be able to equip, support and coordinate volunteers while always upholding our Children Protection Policy. This position requires someone with a flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends as children events require. Applicants must be able to pass a background screening. Ideally, this director would have the equivalent of two years post-secondary education and/or two years of experience working with children. Also, experience in creative involvement of children’s ministry in worship with skits, drama, and dance would be preferred.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Demonstrate a life of growing and active faith.
• Work closely with the pastor to direct the mission and vision of children’s ministry as well as any programs, activities, or objectives that will assist in fulfilling this purpose.
• Plan and administer the budget for the children’s ministry.
• Lead Christian education by selecting curriculum appropriate for children’s growth. (The church currently uses Orange curriculum thinkorange.com/)
• Maintain, recruit and train volunteer leaders for nursery, preschool, and children programs and special events.
• Attend all children events including: Oversee Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry, Good News Club, Community Children Outreach Events, Vacation Bible School, etc.
• Build relationships with children and families through time with them during church events as well as follow-up phone calls, home visits, and other opportunities for support.
• Ensure child safety by upholding the Child and Youth Protection Policy.
