Purpose of Position:
The Worship/Joy Pastor will be the “producer” of the traditional/blended worship service and special programs. Although the senior pastor is the “director” in terms of setting the theme and overall direction, the worship pastor will oversee and coordinate all the details that a service encompasses. The worship pastor must be a visionary who is creative in leading people to God. The worship pastor is a leader who can communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the pursuit of that vision. This position is a pastoral one that therefore requires the individual to serve not solely as a musical or performing arts director but also as a shepherd to the people who serve in this ministry. This pastor will also give leadership and over see our Joy (senior adult) ministry.

- Be fully supportive of FBC church and leadership
- As all staff do, this position would report to the Lead Pastor
- This full-time position would fall under existing FBC personnel policies concerning vacation, work hours, and benefits


- Plan the corporate worship services of FBC in consultation with the Lead Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness. Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day. Oversee song and choir selections, media preparation and presentation, sound and lighting enhancements, and coordination of all instrumentalists and vocalists.
- Serve as lead worshiper in our traditional/blended worship service
- Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate worship in services.
- Strive for excellence in worship ministry
- Plan major seasonal and/or outreach musicals/dramas
- Find and plan other ways to use the music ministry of FBC to reach out to the community evangelistically
- Oversee the worship department budget, organization, and volunteers
- Administer leadership and development of FBC Media Team
- To be the pastor of everyone involved in the music ministry and take spiritual oversight for them
- To lead the Traditional/Blended Worship service
- To lead in some form of spiritual formation at every rehearsal
- To work closely with the pastor to ensure the worship supports the overall mission of the church
- To develop the core teams that are necessary for effective worship
- To agree with and promote the overall mission of the church
- Continue to seek to stay current with new strategies
- Attend staff and committee meetings as requested
- Ability to preach when called upon
- Accomplish various other special assigned responsibilities as called upon
- Oversee and give leadership to the JOY (Senior Adult) Ministry
