Job Description

Purpose: Serving as God’s man to provide oversight and direction to the Student Ministries at FBC Silsbee and to ensure that the Student Ministry is moving in the same direction as the whole of FBC Silsbee, while helping the families of FBC Silsbee guide the students ever closer to Christ.

Reports: To the Senior Pastor

I. Gathering for life-changing worship
- Oversee weekly worship gathering for the students of FBC Silsbee
- Equip a team of adults and students to facilitate weekly worship gatherings
- Oversee system to welcome and engage new students, implying involvement in schools and community, meeting students where they are

II. Growing through life-changing truth
- Equip group leaders to effectively lead Student Ministry groups (Bible study, accountability, fellowships, etc.)
- Provide overall direction and oversight for all the groups and group leaders
- Oversee student retreats, and conferences leading students toward spiritual growth through these means
- Actively develop student leaders to serve inside and outside of FBC Silsbee Student Ministries
- Partner with other ministry leaders in developing a cohesive family ministry plan across all life stages

III. Going in life-changing mission
- Provide ongoing personal evangelism training for students
- Develop and oversee regular local outreach ministry opportunities for students
- Develop and oversee short term mission trips for students
- Develop working relationships with association and other churches in the area

IV. Ministry Support
- Oversee Student Ministries area to ensure the communication and practice of FBC student ministries policies
- Oversee all Student ministry content to ensure that it is Biblically accurate, Christ centered, relevant and engaging for the wide variety of students it serves
- Oversee the Student Ministries Budget
- Continual assessment of Student Ministries facilities and equipment for functionality, attractiveness, and needed repairs or updating
- Recruit, train, coach, and appreciate volunteers in Student Ministries
- Proficient in social media and internet communication

V. Organization
- Work with Youth Committee and in tandem with the Children’s, Student, and Young Adult ministries


- Character traits as set forth in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational and administration capabilities.
- Self-starter with ability to understand and minister to students and their families
- Relational – Conveying calmness, grace, objectivity, peacemaking, resolve and compassion, all focused on Christ
- Multi-tasking from a managerial standpoint while concurrently able to focus attention and serve students individually and whole-heartedly
- Education: 4 year college degree and seminary training preferred
