If you are or suspect you have been a victim of sexual abuse and have not reported your abuse to law enforcement, we urge you to contact 911 immediately. Sexual abuse is a crime and the Credentials Committee does not have the authority to investigate the crime of sexual abuse. Members of law enforcement or the designated investigative agency within your state are skilled and authorized to investigate criminal behavior and prosecute perpetrators of sexual assault.

In addition to reporting this crime to the authorities, please provide your contact information below and an individual trained to assist victims of sexual abuse will call you.

If you are a survivor of sexual abuse which has been reported to law enforcement or the designated investigative agency within your state, the Credentials Committee requests your permission to share your contact information with a mental health agency so that they may provide a support phone call from an individual trained to assist victims of sexual abuse. This call will include a) information about the abuse recovery process that directly relates to your experience and b) identification of resources in your local area.

If you know of, or have reason to suspect, an instance of unreported sexual abuse, we urge you to contact law enforcement immediately. You can do this by calling 911. Neither the Southern Baptist Convention nor the Credentials Committee have investigative authority or power; this is properly the role of law enforcement or the designated investigative agency within your state. Please be aware that each state has legal mandates that require individuals with direct knowledge of abuse to report to law enforcement. Please note that the completion of this form and reporting abuse to the Credentials Committee does not satisfy this legal requirement. If calling law enforcement feels intimidating to you, we urge you to seek a trusted friend to assist you in making this call.
