We are a strong supporter through our budget of mission endeavors in Tennessee, the United States, and internationally. In Kingsport, we support many community mission organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Contact Concern, the Salvation Army, and many others. We undergird our mission support with an age graded organization that teaches boys and girls, men and women about missions including Mission Friends, Girls in Action, Acteens, Royal Ambassadors, Woman`s Missionary Union, and Brotherhood. There is a place for every member of the family to learn and do missions.
Our goal is to involve every member of the church family through a varied slate of organizations and activities that embrace the best of all styles of God-honoring music. Organizations include the Sanctuary Choir, a senior adult choir called Reflections, a youth choir for middle school and high school youth, Young Musicians and Music Makers for elementary age children, and a Preschool Choir. We have an Orchestra for youth and adults, three handbell choirs, a women`s ensemble called Proclamation, and a Young Adult Ensemble.
First Baptist is blessed with a large number of Senior Adults who undergird its ministry and strengthen its fellowship. There are 11 Sunday School classes that provide Bible Study, fellowship, ministry and intercessory prayer for its members. There is a Senior Adult luncheon each month with an informative program, great fellowship, and a nice meal. There is a Senior Adult choir called Reflections, and there are frequent trips to places like Ridgecrest Chautaugua and occasional extended tours throughout the United States. Many seniors are involved in mission projects and ministries in the church and in the community.
We have a thriving Singles Ministry that offers many activities to area residents creating interaction with other area singles in a Christian atmosphere. We host singles conferences in the fall and spring, and participate in retreats, theatre trips, and other social and recreational events.
Our vision is to grow a unique community of students who are committed to letting Jesus Christ change their lives, change their friends` lives, and through them, change the world. We create special activities for all age groups from elementary school to college. We have caring Sunday School teachers for all ages and special Children`s Worship for grades K-2 during Sunday morning services. There are active small group Bible studies for youth, youth drama and puppet teams, and the Wednesday evening gatherings for Middle School and High School students. Our students also travel frequently for recreation, retreats, and mission work.
The heartbeat of our church can be heard in our Sunday School classes. Committed lay persons provide teaching units for all ages every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. There are friendly people in Welcome Centers to offer assistance in finding just the right place for you and your family.
