Located at the corner of Forrest Nelson and Quesada, First Baptist has served Port Charlotte and the surrounding communities since 1961. Our mission is the Great Commission. Our discipleship process is designed to help people get connected to the Father – through corporate worship, the Family – through small group fellowship, and the Fields – through mission opportunities. We believe these goals correspond with our three core values: Truth, Love, and Service. We’d love to have you join us for our Sunday morning activities.
Year Founded: 1961

On Sunday mornings, we offer several classes at 9:30 and 11:00. We also offer many classes and small group Bible studies throughout the week. With several men’s groups, women’s groups, and coed classes available, you’re sure to find a great fit where you can grow and serve. Please call or visit the church office for a current list of locations and times. Other opportunities include: sports teams, volunteer days, recreational activities, and more. We hope you’ll get involved!
Our Preschool Ministry welcomes all children ages birth through kindergarten during each of our Sunday services. For your children’s safety, we ask that you arrive early to sign in and receive a security tag for their retrieval. If your child needs you, we will contact you by one of the display boxes in the Worship Center, text message, or in person. The goal for our time with your little ones is to: 1. Make it fun – a game or activity to introduce the lesson; 2. Make it true – a worship song and Bible story time; 3. Make it stick – a time for activities that reinforce the lesson. For additional security, all adult workers must pass a thorough background check before being approved to serve. The Children’s Ministry welcomes grades 1st through 5th. At 9:30, we offer a Sunday School time where your children will learn stories from the Bible, and how those stories relate to their lives. At 11:00, children attend Super Church, a time of corporate worship and learning tailored to their needs and perspectives.
The mission of Community Christian School is to assist parents in fulfilling their God-given responsibilities over their children. As an integral part of the ministry of First Baptist Church, we are a non-denominational outreach ministry which embraces families of all Christian faiths. Our student body represents over 45 churches in Charlotte County. We have students enrolled in 4-year-old kindergarten through 12th grade, having graduated our first senior class in 1999. Admission is open to all students, regardless of race, color or creed. There is no substitute for a good foundation for your child. We pledge to do the very best to provide a quality education in a Christian atmosphere for each child enrolled in Community Christian School. First Baptist Church has experienced tremendous growth over the past several years. Approximately 70% of this growth has been new families under the age of 45. We are committed to our families by providing opportunities of spiritual, physical and emotional growth. Many special events and activities are provided throughout the year to emphasize a strong family environment and strong family values. Seminars and conferences are offered as well as wholesome opportunities for fun and fellowship. We invite you to come and find out how your family can become a part of our family.
Music is an integral part of God's Church and the ministry of First Baptist. Our philosophy demands balance and sincerity. That is why we endeavor to maintain a variety of music that is Christ-centered and uplifting in order to bring the church family into times of deeper and more meaningful praise and worship. This is accomplished by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and direct the planning of our services. Therefore, our services are conducted in a decent and orderly way while still being sensitive to the Holy Spirit's moving. The result is a blending of the hymns of the faith and contemporary praise and worship choruses accompanied live by a praise band, consisting of a variety of musical instruments. We offer 3 styles of worship services on Sunday mornings: 8:00 - Traditional, 9:30 - Modern, 11:00 - Blended.
Our Forever Young seniors enjoy other exciting activities including trips and our popular Lunch Bunch events. Lunch Bunch is a time of food, fellowship, and entertainment, usually held the third Thursday of every month in the Fellowship Hall. Other interests include a dedicated widows ministry, technology training, and service opportunities.
As the name suggests, our desire in the Transformed Student Ministry is that our middle school and high school students would be “transformed by the renewal of their minds, that by testing they may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Our Wednesday meeting takes place in the Student Center, a “transformed” space where students can enjoy worship music, Biblical teaching, food, and fellowship. On Sunday mornings, we offer small groups where students can ask questions and explore their faith. Caring adults pray with them and talk about how Gods Word is relevant for everyday life. Fun and Fellowship are some of the keys to Student Ministry, because within those shared experiences, teens make friends, grow in trust, and learn about one another. For this reason, we have periodic events such as camp-outs, concerts, and theme park trips to create space for connection with peers and adult leaders. We also schedule opportunities for the students to serve through car washes, cleaning days, and other events
