Meeting in facilities on one of the major thoroughfares near the city of Birmingham, US Highway 280, in the fastest growing county in Alabama, North Shelby is a traditional Southern Baptist Church. The historic hymns of the faith are sung enthusiastically by a friendly-sized congregation. The church is organized to minister to needs and has a welcoming attitude for newcomers. The congregation is very active in missions. Pastor Allan Murphy and his wife Mary were Southern Baptist missionaries in the Caribbean before coming to serve North Shelby in 1995, when it was still meeting in a shopping center.
