Our Mission at Victory Baptist Church is to lead all people to know and treasure Jesus above all things. Jesus is the supreme treasure of life, the “pearl of great price” worth giving all we are to have all He is (Matt. 13:44-46). He is our only rescue from sin (Rom. 6:23), the reigning King over all things (Col. 1:15-18), and the all-satisfying fountain that quenches every longing of our souls for joy, peace, hope, love, life and more (John 6:35). Life is designed by God to be oriented with this Jesus at the center. That God has provided such a Savior and Lord is astonishing gift of grace. It is the best news anyone can hear. So, “leading all people to know and treasure Jesus above all things” is just another way to say that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the defining core of our church. We will accomplish our mission by encouraging and equipping disciples who passionately pursue… intimacy with God through worship, prayer and spiritual habits. (Matt. 22:37, Jn.4;23-24, 15:4-5, Phil. 3:8,10) interaction with believers leading to deep, Christ-centered friendships & authentic community. (Jn. 13:34-35; Matt. 18:15-20, 20:26, 28; 1 Cor. 12:26, 28) imitation of Jesus in thought, character and action. (Luke 9:23; Jn.8:31-32, Rom. 8:29, 1 John 2:6, Gal. 5:22-23) influence in our world by missional, gospel-saturated living in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, communities—and among the nations. (Matt. 5:13-16, 25:31-40; Lk.19:10; Acts 1:8, 2:47, 2 Cor.5:19-20) Since each pursuit begins with an “i”, we call these the i4 pursuits. The call to develop disciples is at the heart of Jesus’ assignment to His church in His Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20). We are committed to help people come to know and treasure Jesus as Savior, and then grow deeper, wider and stronger in their relationship with Him. The i4 pursuits also shape our Lifestage Ministries to preschoolers, children, students and adults of all ages.
