Thank you for looking at Centerview Baptist Church. It is our prayer that this information will help you get to know our church better and ultimately enable you to draw closer to God in a relationship that is real and personal. The best way to get to know our family of faith is to come and participate in one of our dynamic worship services and experience one of our many small group Bible studies! There is something for everyone. We aim to extend the influence of Jesus Christ within our world, beginning with our local community here in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The Bible is central to all that we believe and to the way that we live our lives. Our experience of the transforming power of Jesus Christ motivates us to reach out to the world around us, loving others with the love that comes from God Himself. Join us on the journey as we experience God's plan for us individually and as we find encouragement from fellow Christians. You'll be glad you did! Jesus said,“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJ)

Our AWANA meets at 6:00pm on Sunday evenings during the school year. Our children, ages 3 through high school, study to learn the scriptures while earning rewards and having fun. It is based on II Timothy 2:15: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” We'd be delighted to have you join our AWANA Club
At both 9:30am and 11:00am, we have age-grouped Bible Study for all ages with classes for couple or for male and female. We use LifeWay dated literature for all Bible Study Classes.
Being largely military, we have many young couple with small children. Our Children's Building is specifially designed with these children in mind. In addition to Sunday morning Bible Study and AWANA, school age children attend Children's Church during the 11:00am worship service. Wednesday evening provides a time for Children's Choir and additional Bible Study and activities. Our Little Lambs program insures that there is always child care available at all worship services, Bible Studies and other church functions. We use both volunteers and paid child care workers. We love our children.
Our men are frequently involved in meeting the physical needs of the church family and community. Providing lawn care for the spouses of our deployed military and household repairs for church members are just two of the projects in which our men are involved.
The Centerview Ladies meet for Bible Study weekly. One group meets on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am and a second group meets on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm. We frequently use the Beth Moore studies, Precept Upon Precept as well as other studies. The ladies also have "teas" or socials for additional fellowship needs. Child care is provided at all Bible Studies and fellowship gatherings.
The Centerview men are involved in Bible Studies on Thursday mornings at 6:00am and again at 6:30pm. Various books are selected to guide the group's discussion. The evening group coincides with the Ladies Bible Study so that child care is available. Our men are frequently involved in meeting the physical needs of the church family and community. Providing lawn care for the spouses of our deployed military and household repairs for church members are just two of the projects in which our men are involved.
Centerview is located in a military community as we are situated near Camp Lejeune, the largest Marine Corp amphibious base. We welcome and support our country's military service members. A large portion of our membership is in some way connected to the military. Deployments are frequent so we assist the spouses of those deployed as much as possible. Our men provide lawn care and household repairs when needed and we sponsor a free monthly fellowship meal for the families where a spouse is deployed. Child care is free at these events. The church deacons have the responsibility of keeping in touch with the spouses.
Centerview actively supports both the International Mission Board Missionaries and the North American Mission Board Missionaries. We also support several missionaries in the Philippines through the Independent Baptist Missions for Asians as well as an AWANA Missionary couple, a local missionary to Honduras through Global Missions and a couple with Campus Crusade. Locally, we support the New River Baptist Association. The church also ministers, primarily to church members but also to the community, when there is a financial need such as rent, electric or fuel. A food pantry is kept stocked and available to anyone in need.
The music ministry at Centerview is tri-fold. One, we have a Praise Team and Band that leads worship at two services. They use contemporary music and make use of guitars, drums and keyboards. Secondly, a church choir provides music at the 8:30am service. They uses more traditional arrangements. Thirdly, there is a group of young children who meet on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm during the prayer service. We are enjoy having special presentations, including solists, groups, and instrumentalists.
The youth of Centerview Baptist Church are actively involved in Bible Study on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. They also participate in AWANA on Sunday evenings. The primary focus is on spiritual growth. Junior High and Senior High students participate in activities so that they will be able to go to mission camps during the summer. They have previously been to WorldChangers and other camps. Individual counseling is available by the Youth Minister who is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
