Church Ministries

Adult Ministry

At the core of every individual’s life is a need for relationships—with God and with God’s people. First Baptist’s Adult Ministries help you strengthen your relationship with God and others. Sunday School and other activities help you to not only know about God, but really know Him. We hope that you will join us on Sunday mornings for Sunday School(9:30 a.m.) and morning worship(10:45 a.m.). and the Wednesday night fellowship meal begins at 5:15 p.m. The meal is followed by an Adult Bible study lead by our pastor, Dr. Light.

Childrens Ministry

Our Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church is centered on the theme: Love God, Love Others. Jesus taught that everything hangs on these two commandments! We are working to teach our kids here to learn to love God and then loving others is a natural bi-product of that relationship! There are plenty of activities for your children to be involved in here, and their attendance at these events and activities give us the opportunity to get to know, minister and love your children. It takes committed parents and families to keep kids in church, and we are grateful for all you do to get them here! We have them for two to four hours per week; you have them the majority of the remaining 164-166 hours each week! We would love to help you in any way as you disciple your children, and we understand that the foundation for solid kids is a family focused on the Lord. Our prayer is that our teaching is to the heart, rooted in love and focused on Christ; our prayer is that we are able to assist you in growing up great kids with hearts for Jesus. The Children’s Ministry is comprised of 1st – 5th Grades.

Music Ministry

At First Baptist Church of Selma, we understand that worship is not a musical style or form. Worship is not a feeling. It is an action, something we choose to do. It’s something that occurs when we as sinful human beings come face to face with the realization that a holy and just God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins. Music is merely one of many tools that we can use to worship Him. At First Baptist, it is our goal to create an atmosphere for worship using music to draw us into His presence. Our music ministry provides many opportunities for individuals of all ages to participate in leading worship. Our Sanctuary Choir prepares and presents beautiful and relevant choral anthems to enhance our worship experience each Sunday. We also have a graded choir program for children beginning at age 4, teaching them the importance of using their musical abilities to worship God. From an early age, children exhibiting musical talent are encouraged to share their abilities with the church and to glorify God with their music.

Nursery Ministry

At First Baptist Selma, we believe children are one of God’s greatest blessings to all of us. Keeping your young child busy and active, learning about God’s love, playing and singing in a safe environment is very important to us. That is why we take special care with of our infants & toddlers. Your child will be in safe hands while you participate in Sunday morning and midweek church activities.

Preschool Ministry

Our Preschool Ministry at First Baptist Church is centered on the theme: GROW. Luke 2:40 reminds us that Jesus grew! Our little ones are growing up, and growing up fast! We want them to grow in wisdom and stature just like Jesus. We want them to know that God loves them and that He created them! Preschoolers are able to learn from the Bible and begin to learn Scripture as well! The Preschool Ministry is comprised of 4 & 5 year olds.

Student Ministry

Here at FBC Selma, our Student Ministry has one goal: Helping teenagers become committed disciples of Jesus Christ by making their faith real in every aspect of their lives. With the majority of people accepting Christ before the age of 13 and up to 80% of people dropping out of church before they are 23, church youth ministries have an infinitely greater task than entertainment at hand. Through Bible study, fellowship, and fun our desire is our students would take hold of true eternal life by growing in the knowledge their one true Savior.
