Welcome to FBC Sparta! We are an exciting community of faith that exists to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. We invite you to discover God's hope and peace in your life as we join together to touch our world through biblical teaching, service, and life changing ministries. First Baptist Church of Sparta, Tennessee is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Tennessee Baptist Convention, and the Union Baptist Association. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God, and is our source of direction for living a Christ-Centered life. (II Timothy 3:16). We believe that "God loved the world so much, that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16). We also believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son, was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary, was born, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, and rose from the dead three days later, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, ever making intercession for us. We believe in, " Salvation by grace through faith, and that not of ourselves, because it is a gift from God, not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2: 8-9). Jesus said "I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except by Me." (John 14:6). We believe that the only way a person can be saved is to admit that you are a sinner, believe Jesus died on the cross, confessing and repenting of your sins, and asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart and life. Church membership is attained by: 1. Public profession of faith in Jesus Christ. 2. Upon statement of faith in Jesus Christ. 3. Transfer of membership from another Southern Baptist Church. 4. Following the Lord in Baptism.
